Action on homelessness

The City of Hobart works closely with various groups to address the different aspects of homelessness. This includes:

  • grass roots community groups
  • specialist homelessness support services
  • charitable and community organisations
  • all levels of government.

This multifaceted approach acknowledges the many different causes of homelessness. As well as the different impacts that homelessness has on individuals and our community.

We also work with research institutions and local government forums around Australia. This work is to identify and address the political and economic factors that have an impact on:

  • homelessness
  • housing insecurity
  • rental affordability
  • housing availability.

Regardless of the cause or how it manifests, the impact of homelessness on our community is significant. With this in mind, we focus our available resources on the actions that have the support of our community to best respond to this complex issue.
