Action on homelessness

The City of Hobart works closely with grass roots community groups, specialist homelessness support services, charitable and community organisations, and all levels of government to address the different aspects of homelessness.

This multifaceted approach acknowledges the many different causes of homelessness as well as the different impacts that homelessness has on individuals and our community.

The City also works at a state and national level with research institutions and local government forums to identify and address the political and economic factors that have an impact on homelessness, housing insecurity, rental affordability, and housing availability.

Regardless of the cause or how it manifests, the impact of homelessness on our community is significant. With this in mind the City focusses its available resources on those actions that have the support of our community to best respond to this complex issue.
